The collection relates to Arthur Edwin Brenton who served aboard the USS  Pennsylvania battleship during World War II in the Pacific Campaign as a member of the U.S. Marine Guard.  The collection includes a diary, typed transcript of the diary, personal papers, newspaper clippings, as well as ship's newsletters.

1st Lieutenant Irvin Baker's unpublished manuscript describes his experiences as a platoon leader with the 4th Marine Division and 10th Amtrac Battalion of the United States Marine Corps. He led his platoon through the Battle of Iwo Jima.

Lane who served in the United States Marine Corps, 25th Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division, as a rifleman, runner, and radioman during the Battle of Iwo Jima in World War II. The collection contains a memoir “Private Lane,” describing Lane's experiences during World War II from 1941 to 1945. The collection also includes 3 portraits of Lane during 1944-1945.
