Scope and Contents The College of Social Work files primarily comprise a fairly complete collection of undergraduate student handbooks (some with revised editions) prepared by the Department of Social Work from 1971-1992. The handbooks describe requirements for the B.S. and B.A Degree, list undergraduate courses, and offer information on social work certification, post graduate education, and other student related topics. Several pamphlets describe the Doctoral Program in Social Work, but they only cover scattered years from 1975-1984. Scope and Contents

The Florida State University Southern Business History Center Records include, correspondence to and from the center, including memos, form letters, responses, questionnaire, annual reports, photographs and publications; and oral interviews recorded in May and June, 1954 and August 1956 on 1/4 inch audio tape reels. They also include a group of historical records of the Eberhard Faber Pencil Company at Cedar Key, Florida.

Abstract

This collection contains a wide range of documents created by the Florida State University (FSU) Supercomputer Computations Research Institute (SCRI). Founded by Dr. Joseph Lannutti, SCRI was the nation's first supercomputing venture to be supported jointly by the US government, private industry and a university. SCRI operated from 1984 until 1999 when it was incorporated into what is currently FSU's Department of Scientific Computing.

Scope and Contents

The Florida State University (FSU) Undergraduate Policy Committee Minutes document the discussions of its predecessor organization, the FSU Undergraduate Policy Council. The records consist of memoranda and minutes. There are gaps in the records, which cover only 1973 and portions of 1979 and 1981.

Topics include academic advising, admission of undergraduate students to graduate courses, Council functions, development of computer registration at FSU, final examination schedules, remediation programs for entering students with deficiencies in English and mathematics, and requirements for FSU's Liberal Studies program.

Joseph Lannutti Papers

Abstract

The collection consists of a wide range of documents maintained by FSU Physics professor Dr. Joseph Lannutti over the course of his professional career. Dr. Lannutti established the High Energy Physics group at Florida State University in 1957, started the FSU-FAMU College of Engineering in 1982, and began the Florida State University Supercomputer Computations Research Institute in 1984. The collection was a gift of the Lannutti family to Florida State University in 2003.

Proposed Rules of the Florida State University

Scope and Contents

The proposed rules were created by the Office of the Vice President of University Relations for Florida State University. The many topics covered by the rules changes include admission requirements; degree requirements; departmental bylaws; disbursement of tax-free alcohol; faculty tenure and promotion; parking regulations; program requirements; and University property regulations. The collection is divided by rule subsection, each folder containing one subsection. However, the last six folders in the collection contain all the subsections of a rule in one folder.

R.A. Gray Collection

Scope and Contents The four items presented to the FSU Library by the Honorable R.A. Gray, Secretary of State, Tallahassee, Florida, consist of the following: 1. Civil War letter (1863) written by Secretary Gray's Grand Uncle, W.D. Howren, while in the General Hospital at Augusta, Georgia, for treatment after "having a foot shot off in battle." The letter, addressed to Lieutenant J.C. Blake of 5th Fla. Vols., Richmond, Virginia, relates to baggage to be delivered to Lieutenant Blake. 2. A three-page World War II letter from another relative of Gray, signed "Buck," Philippine Islands, A.P.O. 715, (no date) to "Dear Roy."
