This item is a letter in manuscript by A. J. T. Wright, Alligator, October 22, 1855, to Mr. T. W. Brevard, Comptroller, Tallahassee, Leon County, Florida, informing him that the vacancy in the Tax Collector office was occasioned by the resignation of William A. Sheffield, and not by his death. Attached to the letter is this note: "Lake City, known as Alligator before 1859, because of its proximity to an Indian village ruled by a Seminole chief of that name..."

This collection relates to Angie Croy and her father, Aviation Machinist's Mate Felder Lang Howell, who was killed in a car accident while on duty at Corry Field in Pensacola, Florida. The collection consists of two scrapbooks from World War II, one belonging to Angie Croy, the other assembled by her mother. The scrapbooks include photographs, greeting cards, newspapers, and magazine clippings. The collection also includes letters, telegrams, certificates, and military documents all pertaining to Howell and his family. Artifacts include jewelry, a gold star flag, a floral arrangement ribbon, and a medal awarded posthumously.

This is an oral interview transcript relates to Dwight R. Crum regarding his service with the 119th Anti-Aircraft Battalion in Europe during World War II. He was initially drafted into the 95th Coast Artillery Corps in 1941. He served at Pearl Harbor in 1942 before being transferred to the European Theater where he served as a 2nd LT with the 119th Anti-Aircraft Battalion.

Dallas Wood Civil War Letter

This collection is comprised of a photostat of Wood's letter in duplicate. The letter is by Dallas Wood, Co. "K," 6th Fla. Vols, Finley's Brigade, dated Dalton, Georgia, December 25, 1863, to "Dear Sister." Dallas Wood's letter to his sister is chiefly a family letter written on Christmas day and deals only slightly with army life and the granting of furloughs. His reference to "the bloody struggle" was doubtless in anticipation of a forthcoming transfer to Virginia and Tennessee where Brig.-General Finley's Florida Infantry saw service during the following two years.
