Scope and Contents This collection is compirsed primarily of newspaper clippings and correspondence, and documents the controversy from 1991 through 2005 over FSU's use of Native American names and symbols representing Renegade and Osceola, the Seminoles, and their use in athletic merchandise. There is correspondence between representatives of the Seminole Tribe of Florida and the Florida Creek Indian Council with FSU reaffirming support for the Seminole name and Marching Chiefs over the use of the Seminole name, war chant, and "tomahawk chop" as well as letters between university officials about the President Dale Lick's Presidential Study Group on the Use of Seminole Symbolism and Tradition...

The FSU Senior Class Gift Files include articles, correspondence, lists, pamphlets, photographs, and press releases documenting the history of annual and 50th anniversary gifts given by its senior classes. There is much information about the 1994 Senior Class Gift of a clock for the University Center's Tower, the Westcott Brick Project, and the Louise Richardson Memorial Fountain Project, and a reproduction of a panoramic photo, with negatives, of the Class of 1912.

Florida State University Southern Business History Center Records

The Florida State University Southern Business History Center Records include, correspondence to and from the center, including memos, form letters, responses, questionnaire, annual reports, photographs and publications; and oral interviews recorded in May and June, 1954 and August 1956 on 1/4 inch audio tape reels. Collection includes the annual publications and newsletters of the Florida State University (FSU) Summer Music Camp. Generally there is a statement by the Music Camp Director in each issue of the annual publication ALLEGRO. These publications include lists of faculty, staff, and students, awards, interviews, poetry and prose and artwork. There are also individual and group photographs, with some student scenes. Also included in the collection are programs of performances, awards, press releases and a survey, brochures with applications, and news clippings.

Florida State University Supercomputer Computational Research Institute (SCRI) Records

This collection contains a wide range of documents created by the Florida State University (FSU) Supercomputer Computations Research Institute (SCRI). Founded by Dr. Joseph Lannutti, SCRI was the nation's first supercomputing venture to be supported jointly by the US government, private industry and a university. SCRI operated from 1984 until 1999 when it was incorporated into what is currently FSU's Department of Scientific Computing.

The Florida State University (FSU) Undergraduate Policy Committee Minutes document the discussions of its predecessor organization, the FSU Undergraduate Policy Council. The records consist of memoranda and minutes. There are gaps in the records, which cover only 1973 and portions of 1979 and 1981.

Topics include academic advising, admission of undergraduate students to graduate courses, Council functions, development of computer registration at FSU, final examination schedules, remediation programs for entering students with deficiencies in English and mathematics, and requirements for FSU's Liberal Studies program.

The Free Tattler

Scope and Contents The Free Tattler was a newsletter documenting the activities among a group of friends at the Florida State College for Women between 1928-29. The group referred to themselves as the "Tattlerettes" and published the newsletter "every two weeks" for "five (5) cents [a] copy." Among the activities described are the group attending church, recitals, and lecture series; having picnics and eating in the dining hall; studying for exams; and visiting with eachother on the weekends. F.S.C.W. Building No. 6 Sign

Metal (bronze?) sign with the inscription "F.S.C.W. Building No. 6" mounted on a wooden plaque with the inscription, "Once Stood Near This Spot," beneath it.  A note that accompanied the plaque stated that the "new psychology building was built on the site of the old FSCW Building No. 6, where Park Avenue runs into the campus." The sign may have been for the old gymnasium which, after it was moved to the campus side at corner of Copeland Street and Park Avenue, served for a time as the location of the Social Welfare Department.
