Leo and Marie Jennings papers
Scope and Contents
The collection of Leo and Marie Warren Jennings contains an oral history transcript of an interview provided by the Reichelt Program for Oral History. Leo Jennings served in the British Navy during World War II. His wife, Marie Warren Jennings, served as a British nurse. The collection includes postcards, a program, and two pamphlets (Guides to Services in Alexandria and Cairo). A British newspaper, The Egyptian Mail, and documents regarding Britain and "Operation Dragoon" are included. The collection also includes Leo Jennings' diary, "Leo's account of service in the Mediterranean Sea," which covers an array of locations, including Gibraltar, Italy, Corsica, and Egypt. The collection also has photographs of Leo in uniform, ships, planes, a church in Rome, Winston Churchill, and Dunkirk in 1940.

Biographical or Historical Information
In Blackpool, England (190 miles Northwest of her London home), Marie Jennings was educated in a convent. Marie describes herself in 1938 at the age of 13 and the events that led up to the war and the Blitz. Marie completed her training as a nurse at the Royal College of Nursing in Preston.
