Biographical or Historical Information

The 385th Bombardment Group, Heavy, was activated on February 1, 1942, at Geiger Field, Spokane, WA. and assigned to the Eighth Air Force in England in June 1943. The group operated with B-17 bombers and primarily as a strategic bombardment organization until the war ended, striking such targets as industrial areas, air bases, oil refineries, and communications centers in Germany, France, Poland, Belgium, Holland, and Norway.
