Biographical or Historical Information

Since 2012, Julian's Creative Arts Workshop (aka The Julian McMackin Woodall Creative Arts Workshop) has provided opportunities for student veterans to make paper from military uniforms, which is then used as the substrate for printed images and text which are often reflective of each veteran's military experience. The workshops are designed and executed by the Florida State University Departments of Art, Art Education, and Art Therapy in collaboration with the nationwide Peace Paper Project and the Florida State University Student Veterans Center.

The workshops are named for United States Marine Corps Corporal Julian McMackin Woodall, son of Workshop founder Meredith McMackin. Woodall was killed in action in Iraq in 2007.
