Autograph Note, Nathaniel Foster
Scope and Contents
Handwritten note by Nathaniel Foster with a message written on the verso by Thomas Percy. There are three questions in Latin which constitute an examination given to Thomas Percy in 1756 "previous to the Archbishop's granting" a dispensation to Percy for the dual livings of Easton Mauduit and Wilby. The verso message by Percy is his holograph identification of the examination. The questions are: (1) Quibus potissimum argumentis probatur divina SS. Scripturanim auctoritas? (2) Quid est Ecclesia Catholica? (3) An bona Xnorum sint quoad jus et titulum communia?
