Biographical / Historical Note
Winifred Lund Caraway was born on September 14, 1923 and served with the United States Marine Corps Women's Reserve at the end of World War II. She began her military training at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina and was later transferred as a mess orderly to San Francisco, California in 1944. After the war, she lived in Peoria, AZ and passed away on November 17, 2002 in Payson, AZ. She is buried at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, Phoenix, AZ.
