Biographical / Historical

Marie Oscar was born on March 27, 1917 in New York. She attended high school at Saugerties High School and attended Nursing School at Columbia University. Marie Oscar joined the U.S. Army Nurse Corps and trained in Oregon at Camp White. She was stationed in France for most of the war, but also spent time in Northern Ireland, Ireland, England, Germany, and Sweden. While in France, she cared for former Allied POWs. Later in life, she moved to Florida and volunteered at the Historical Museum of Southern Florida in Miami. She passed away on December 1, 2003 in Hialeah, FL.
