This collection contains the personal papers, photographs, ephemera, documents, newspaper clippings, and various other papers relating to World War II years and post war years lives of Herbert and Betty Colker as well as many family members and their correspondences with the Colkers.

Biographical / Historical

Herbert Colker passed away on Monday, July 4, 2016, at his home. He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, on October 3, 1920 and moved to Huntington, WV in 1946, after serving in the U.S. Army during World War II, in order to join his brother, Joseph, in business at West Virginia Electric Supply Company. He was married to his wife Betty for 73 years. Betty was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on February 19, 1921 and moved to Huntington, WV in 1946 with Herbert. She passed away on April 16, 2016. Both Herbert and Betty are buried at Spring Hill Cemetery, Huntington, WV.
