Biographical / Historical

Henry John Perner born on May 30, 1914 in New York City. An employee of Howard Johnson Company in Miami, Florida, Perner was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1940 and served with the 42nd Infantry Regiment of the 9th Division. He was captured in Tunisia in 1943 and held a prisoner of war in Italy and later in Stalag IIB before being transferred to work. Liberated by Soviet troops, Perner returned home to the United States where he resumed employment with the Howard Johnson Company. He died in March 7, 1993.1993-03-07
