Biographical / Historical
Louis Dodaro was born in Ridgewood, New York on March 18, 1925 and was drafted into the U.S. Navy on September 12, 1943. He served as a radioman on the USS Franklin. He served in the Pacific Theater. When the USS Franklin was hit by a Japanese Kamikaze aircraft off the coast of Kyushu, Japan, Dodaro was responsible for looking for bodies. After his service he received his pilot's license and became a 2nd grade detective for the New York City police department where he served for 21 years. He passed away on August 9, 2013 and is buried in South Florida National Cemetery.
