This collection relates to First Lieutenant Richard N. Peters who served as a pilot in the Army Air Corps in the European Theater of Operations in Italy with a troop carrier squadron. This collection contains an oral history interview transcript and three flight training yearbooks.

Biographical / Historical

Richard N. Peters was born on November 8, 1924. He trained and served as a C-47 pilot in the United States Army Air Corps in the European Theater. Stationed out of Rome and then Leghorn, Italy, Peters completed troop transport missions until the end of the war. In October 1945, Peters was granted leave and eventually discharged. Using the G.I. Bill he attended Iowa State University. Following graduation, Peters worked for the Reynolds Metals Company for 40 years. He retired December 1, 1989.
