Biographical / Historical

Robert E. Smith was born on August 2nd, 1935 in Mobile, Alabama. He served as a Tank Commander in the Army during his years in Germany, achieving the rank of Major. He was awarded for marksmanship and made an instructor. Robert E. Smith ultimately earned a Doctor of Education and was the Dean of Students at Northern Virginia Community College in Virginia, and at Chipola Junior College in Marianna. He served on the School Board in Virginia and finished his working career serving as a Psychologist at Sunland. Robert E. Smith was a very active volunteer in his retirement years by serving in the Gideon’s teaching Sunday school, Vacation Bible School, Prison Ministry, and making mission trips to Honduras. Robert E. Smith passed away on September 29th, 2018 at the age of 83. He is buried at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens in Marianna, Florida.
