This collection relates to Angie Croy and her father, Aviation Machinist's Mate Felder Lang Howell, who was killed in a car accident while on duty at Corry Field in Pensacola, Florida. The collection consists of two scrapbooks from World War II, one belonging to Angie Croy, the other assembled by her mother. The scrapbooks include photographs, greeting cards, newspapers, and magazine clippings. The collection also includes letters, telegrams, certificates, and military documents all pertaining to Howell and his family. Artifacts include jewelry, a gold star flag, a floral arrangement ribbon, and a medal awarded posthumously.

Biographical / Historical

Felder Lang Howell was born on May 16 1916 in Branford, Florida. On November 30, 1935, Howell married Lorayne Barbour. They had two children together, Ralph and Angie Howell. Howell enlisted in the U.S. Navy in September 1942 and received training in Norfolk, Viginia. He was then transferred to Corry Field in Pensacola, Florida in October 1942. He served as an Aviation Machinist's Mate, Second Class, and worked as a naval air mechanic specialized in electrical work. On August 18,1943, Felder was killed in a car accident while on duty as he traveled to Corry Field in Pensacola, Florida. He is buried at the McCalls Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery in Hatchbend, Florida.
