Biographical

"Jeanette Hodges, 1887-1963, was raised in Fort Christmas where she attended school. She never married and taught school for 35 years, the last 20 years at Edison Elementary in Miami, Florida. After retiring she moved back to Fort Christmas where she continued to teach as a substitute teacher when needed at Union School. She wrote a novel, "Back Country," based on pioneer life as she experienced it." Quoted from Hodges obituary as accessed via Detour Through History blog.
