Scope and Contents

This collection centers around a Corporal and Combat Radio Operator in the 310th Bombardment Wing, 528th Bomb Squadron, 380th Bomb Group, in the Southwest Pacific theatre of World War II. It includes handwritten radio messages, commendations, strike reports, a copy of the Filipino Press from May of 1945, and a Japanese newspaper. It also includes twenty-two aerial photographs of the Southeast Pacific, including Saigon, Indochina, Formosa, and Muong Man, Vietnam. It also includes two envelopes without letters, a Christmas card, and a modern day article from CNN.

Scope and Contents

Raymond L. Willett was born in Tennessee on January 29, 1924. He entered the U.S. Army Air Corps at Ft. Mcclellan, Alabama on November 16, 1942. He served as a radio operator with the 528th Bomb Squadron, 380th Bomb Group, in the Pacific Theater. He passed away in Thomasvile, GA on April 28, 1994 and is buried in Laurel Hill Cemetery Thomasville, GA.
