Richard Frakes papers
Scope and Contents
The collection is from PFC (T/Sgt) Richard Frake's military records and ephemera, including training certificates for Pre-RADAR VIII, Bomb Reconnaissance School, and Radio/Radar Repairman. The collection also has unofficial certificates proving that Frakes "officially" passed the equator and became a "shellback" on board the USAT Pemant. There are also documents and ephemera about Japanese POWs surrendering.

Biographical or Historical Information
Richard Frakes' discharge papers show that he was a radio/radar repairman for the 3367th Signal Service Battalion, served in New Guinea, South Philippines, and Luzon. He also trained at the University of Minnesota, U.S. Signal Corps (Des Moines, Iowa), and Camp Murphy, Florida. He obtained the good conduct medal and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon.
