Biographical or Historical Information

Abraham Zuckerman was born December 10th, 1924 in Krakow, Poland. A holocaust survivor, Zuckerman was interned in six concentration camps including Plaszow, Mauthausen, Gusen, and Gusen II. Zuckerman was assigned to a factory run by Oscar Schindler. Of his family, Zuckerman was the only member to survive the holocaust. Zuckerman met his wife Millie, in a displaced persons camp in Bindermichl, Austria. During the interview, he discusses living conditions in five different concentration camps, and how he managed to survive. He had to work for Oscar Schindler, survive the killing camps, follow all orders, lie repeatedly. He met his wife in one of the camps. In this personal account, Zuckerman explains life in the concentration camps, how he was starved, and the fates of his family members, who did not survive. He also discusses the tragedy and devastation of the Holocaust. In 1949, Zuckerman emmigrated to the United States where he was a founding member of a real estate development company named LPZ Associates. He was also a founding member of the Holocaust Museum in Washington D.C. Abraham passed away at the age of 89 on December 12, 2013. He is buried in Livingston, New Jersey.
