Biographical / Historical

The bulk of this collection consists of correspondence, primarily by Harry L. Lewis addressed to Lawrence Anderson of Patterson and later Fair Lawn, New Jersey. Anderson, married with several children owned a food store in Patterson, New Jersey and was a stamp collector. Harry L. Lewis may have been a resident of Patterson, New Jersey prior to serving in the U.S. Army. Based on a reading of the correspondence, he likely worked as a postmaster in Patterson before entering the service.
