This collection contains an oral history transcript detailing Nicholas Baldino's military service and how Jeanne met Nicholas Baldino.

Biographical / Historical

Nicholas Baldino was born October 26, 1924 and grew up in Ocean Township, New Jersey. He was called to service in January of 1943 for the Army Air corps. He completed trainings in Biloxi, Mississippi, in Lynchburg Virginia, Scott Field, Illinois, Harlingen, Texas, and Ellington Field, Texas. He was sent to the Pacific Theater at Henderson Field in Guadalcanal in the Solomon Islands. He served with both the 5th and the 11th heavy bombardment group. He flew missions as a replacement for a radioman, bombardier or gunner. N. Baldino also served in the Philippine campaigns. In 1946, he married Jeanne Baldino at St. Rose Catholic Church in Belmar, NJ. Upon his return to the U.S. he received an economics degree at Fordham with the assistance of a baseball scholarship and the GI Bill and law degree at Rutgers. He was the senior vice president of Chemical Bank, N.Y., now J. P. Morgan Chase. He passed away on January 11, 2015. N. Baldino is buried at St. James R.C. Church, Red Bank, New Jersey.

Jeanne Baldino was born in Plainfield, New Jersey on May 29, 1926. She attended Asbury Park High School and upon graduation worked as a telephone operator in Asbury Park. She married Nicholas Baldino in 1946. They were married for 65 years. Jeanne Baldino passed away on May 14, 2011 and is buried at St. James R.C. Church, Red Bank, New Jersey.
