Content Description

This collection relates to Technical Sergeant James A. Armstrong who served 691st Ordnance Company in the European Theater of Operation. He participated beginning with the Normandy Campaign and each subsequent campaign with the company through to Germany. After the war, he was also commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant Ammunition Supply Officer and assigned to the 633rd Ordnance Company. The collection contains letters, military documents, and photographs.

Abstract

The Baliot Collection is comprised of black and white print photographs, performance contracts, card photographs, printed materials, programs, a scrapbook, and a published book. The materials date from 1902 to 1997, the bulk ranging from 1910-1928. A significant portion of card and print photographs capture scenes of the Baliot aerial performers, acts, and publicity shots, primarily of Emma and Anton Riedler, stage named Erna and Tony Baliot. The scrapbook and printed materials consist of clippings, ephemera, and advertising of the Baliots as well as personal photographs and travel related printed materials.

William Clayton Greene papers

This collection relates to William Clayton Greene who served in the U.S. Army during World War II in Belgium and Germany. The collection includes informaton about his experience there. There are letters to his family, a friend, as well as letters from Nuns from a Belgian convent that Greene befriended. Also included is a German publication entitled Sparta: Der Lebenskampf Einer Nordischen Herrenschicht which is signed by Heinrich Himmler.

This collection relates to Ralph E. Herold who served in the United States Army as a Lieutenant Colonel and assigned to Headquarters in Kobe, Japan Base during the post war occupation. This collection contains news articles about Ralph E. Herold, training films, and various battles in World War II. There are photographs of Kobe, Japan and different radio equipment. There are also several booklets containing data about War time training films.

Roy Lindsey collection

This is the collection of Roy Lindsey who served in World War II as part of the 81st Engineering Aviation Battalion in the European Theater. The collection contains postcards from America and Abroad and greeting cards. Letters between Roy Lindsey and his wife Irene, while Roy Lindsey was serving in the European Theatre are also included, along with photographs of Roy Lindsey during his time in the Army. Also included are letters between Roy Lindsey and his brother whom also served during World War II. There are telgrams, and an expired driver's license.

Scope and Contents This collection mostly consists of Dutch language civil and military administrative documents from the career of André Lauwrensius van Assenderp, who was a Dutch colonial administrator in the Netherlands East Indies (Indonesia) and Suriname from 1932-1946. Some documents date from WWII and its immediate aftermath 1) when André served in Suriname from November 1941 to November 1943 as the District Commissioner and Commissioner of Police in Paramaribo, the colony’s capital, and 2) when he served in the Netherlands East Indies from April 1944 to November 1946 as an assistant-resident and military administrator in the Netherlands Indies Civil Administration (NICA) and the Netherlands Indies...
