Abstract

The Baliot Collection is comprised of black and white print photographs, performance contracts, card photographs, printed materials, programs, a scrapbook, and a published book. The materials date from 1902 to 1997, the bulk ranging from 1910-1928. A significant portion of card and print photographs capture scenes of the Baliot aerial performers, acts, and publicity shots, primarily of Emma and Anton Riedler, stage named Erna and Tony Baliot. The scrapbook and printed materials consist of clippings, ephemera, and advertising of the Baliots as well as personal photographs and travel related printed materials.

This collection relates to Technician 5th Grade Charles Wilfong Chalker who served with the 76th Infantry Division in the European Theater during World War II. The collection contains three German World War II period flags brought back after the war from Europe by Chalker.

William Clayton Greene papers

This collection relates to William Clayton Greene who served in the U.S. Army during World War II in Belgium and Germany. The collection includes informaton about his experience there. There are letters to his family, a friend, as well as letters from Nuns from a Belgian convent that Greene befriended. Also included is a German publication entitled Sparta: Der Lebenskampf Einer Nordischen Herrenschicht which is signed by Heinrich Himmler.

Hasterlik-Hine collection

The Hasterlik-Hine collection consists personal correspondence between Giulia Kortischoner (married name Hine) and her family and friends. The personal correspondence consists of letters, postcards, get-well-soon cards, greeting cards, and a small number of travel documents. The collection contains discussions about the Holocaust, life as a Jewish refugee, and the progress of the war and life afterwards.

This collection relates to John J. Ingersoll who served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was assigned to England until shortly after D-Day. He provided non-combat support to the invading allied forces into Paris. Opera, Oratorio and Musical Theatre Libretti Collection

Abstract This collection primarily contains published opera, oratorio, and musical theatre libretti, along with a few programs and Metropolitan Opera House Grand Opera Season guides. These are of particular interest in terms of their covers, publication materials, and performance information. Many of the libretti were donated by music critic Olin Downes; these contain handwritten research notes, drafts of reviews, miscellaneous programs and cast lists for the Metropolitan Opera Company. Publication dates range from 1804-1960s, and composers represented include Eugen D’Albert, Louise Aubert, J.S. Bach, L.V. Beethoven, Vincenzo Bellini, Georges Bizet, François-Adrien Boieldieu, Arrigo...

Phillip Spurgeon Collection

Abstract

This collection contains materials related to music conductor Phillip Spurgeon who was a professor at and Florida State University from 1972-2003. Subject matter concerns orchestral conducting practice and pedagogy in the late twentieth century, related to music performed by the FSU Symphony Orchestra from 1972-2003 in the United States and Europe. This collection contains annotated musical scores, along with a few concert programs, memorandums, research notes, performance and rehearsal notes, and correspondence.
