Dr. Earl R. Beck Papers

Scope and Contents Contains both holograph and typescripts of Beck's work, Under the Bombs: The German Home Front, 1942-1945. The papers also include a couple of maps, a 1987 essay exam, articles and newsclippings, research notes on various subjects, and many publications by others. This last area is especially strong in works by German authors including a handful by Schonemann. Collection includes MSS 92-21.

Scope and Contents Contains personal and business correspondence, documents, bills, receipts, etc., of Dr. Edward Bradford, general merchant and plantation owner. Collection also includes a letter of introduction of James E. Broome, Tallahassee, Fla., to Hon. Jacob Thompson, Washington City, and a long handwritten letter of Governor Bragg, Raleigh, N.C., and other important papers show that Dr. Bradford was a well-known and prominent citizen. For the period before 1840 there are only a few scattering bills, receipts, and notes, but from 1840 to 1866 records of the plantation, commission merchants, forwarding agents, and New York cotton brokers evidence that a prosperous business was transacted....

Scope and Contents Collection consists mainly of photocopies of original manuscripts in Spanish from Archivos General de Indias, Sevilla, Spain. Boyd Collection consists chiefly of items relating to the duties and activities of Don Juan Joseph de la Puente, St. Augustine, Florida, who, in 1772, was appointed Auditor of Accounts of the Royal Coffers for the Windward Islands, Province of Florida, Louisiana, Yucatan, Campeche, etc., but as other subjects are embraced, the papers have been separated and filed according to main subjects and envelopes and packages are labeled as such.
