Historic Homes Preservation Committee of Leon County Records
The Leon County Commissioners passed a resolution in 1958 to see what could be done to restore historic homes and buildings in Tallahassee, Florida. Governor Millard Caldwell served as Chairman of the Historic Homes Preservation Committee.
Historical Newspaper Collection
The collection's two major groupings of papers are Antebellum and Civil War newspapers in OS Box 1 and Gilded Age, Progressive, and 20th century newspapers in OS Box 2. The majority of the papers are from the southern states in the United States. OS Box 3 is photostat copies of its contents.

J. S. Lester Plantation Papers
The J.S. Lester Plantation Papers include an 1895 doctor's bill, a transmittal letter, and a 4-page list of receipts (1868) for money received by fourteen ex-slaves; the plantation was located in Leon County, Fla. Also known as MSS 0-167.

This collection contains two letters by James Gould Cozzens to Mr. Emmett B. Peter, Jr., concerning criticisms of some of his writing, as well as a copy of one letter, undated, by Mr. Emmett B. Peter, Jr., to Cozzens, and a "draft of article of which Cozzens reffered in his letter. Not yet published (4/2/63)." The two letters written by Cozzens to Mr. Emmett B. Peter, Jr., should be most helpful to any person writing for the public.
