Collection of mostly Southern newspapers. Originally under NWP 0-1 in catalog records.
The collection contains materials about the history of the Palmer family in Halifax County, Virginia, poetry of Mary Bebecca Gassaway Palmer, and an issue of the Florida Medical Association's journal, with an article by Theresa Yaeger Palmer and Hugh Archer Palmer about physicians as a family tradition. There is a Civil War history by Mrs. Clarence W. Maxwell that mentions Dr. T. M. Palmer. There are newspaper clippings about Mary Martha Reid, a friend of Dr. Thomas Palmer, dated September 29, 1968. There are also letters from John C. Hill to Dr. Palmer at the Florida State Hospital, from Richmond, Virginia. Some of these materials are photocopies of a typescript or manuscript.
Twenty-six fragments of papyrus with Greek text. Sixteen fragments are known to be orders to bankers to pay out various sums.

Document signed by Peter Chester, Colonial Governor of West Florida in Pensacola, dated 1772, and is an order directing Elias Durnford, Surveyour-General, to measure five hundred acres of land to be granted to Ephriam Wolfe. The order was issued at the Secretary's Office and is certified by Ph. Livingston. The quality of paper, size, form and signatures are the same as used on other orders, surveyors maps and land grants issued by Peter Chester during the same period, some of which were processed and filed in Special Collections in 1954. The official seal is attached.
Scrapbook contains newspaper articles, congratulatory telegrams and letters on his appointment.

Photograph. This collection consists of a photograph of a diploma awarded to Miss Catherine E. Brewer, Georgia Female College, July 16, 1840. It is said to be: "the first Diploma ever awarded to a women in the world. Awarded to Miss Catherine E. Brewer, now Mrs. Catherine E. Benson, Macon, GA, mother of the present (1919) ranking admiral of the United States Navy."
An ethnographical sketch of the Creek Indians in West Florida. There are historical reports that General McGillivray, the famous chief of the Creeks, attended an Indian congress at Pensacola where a treaty was signed with the Creeks, and it could be that this document was written at that or some other Indian congress held at Pensacola between 1789-1793.

This collection contains President Albert Alexander Murphree's official presidential correspondence as well as his personal correspondence. It includes letters concerning his work as editor and publisher of the Florida School Exponent, the only teacher's journal in Florida, which began publication in 1894.

Typed transcripts and copies of two interviews conducted by R.L. Goulding of Florida State University. The first interview is with Capt. John W. Malloy of the Pensacola Pilots' Association. The second interview is with Mr. George W. Howe of Pensacola who discusses ship building and the timber industry in Florida.
The collection contains correspondence between Rabindranath Tagore and Dr. Arthur and Mayce Seymour, as well as other friends and family. Also included in the collection are biographical materials related to Tagore's life in both India and the United States. Tagore's writings are included in the collection with works of literary criticism and analysis of his writing. The collection also contains artwork by the Tagores and photographs.
Manuscripts by Ralph Lee Eyman used for publications (typed and undated). The manuscripts include "To What Extent are the United Nations United", "Public Education in the South and the Nation", and "Toward World Understanding and World Peace With Implications for Education." A list of Southern Academies before 1960, as well as some notepads with handwritten notes by Ralph Lee Eyman are also included in the collection.
