Cromartie Land Records

Scope and Contents

Documentation of the land holdings of Alexander Cromartie (1807-1870) of Leon County, Florida.  Includes an 1868 manuscript land indenture transferring two parcels of land to Cromartie's son, Alexander G. Cromartie; and an 1870 map by surveyor W. L. Robeson, detailing the division of Cromartie's 978 acres near Lake Iamonia after his death.

Dr. Earl R. Beck Papers

Scope and Contents

Contains both holograph and typescripts of Beck's work, Under the Bombs: The German Home Front, 1942-1945. The papers also include a couple of maps, a 1987 essay exam, articles and newsclippings, research notes on various subjects, and many publications by others. This last area is especially strong in works by German authors including a handful by Schonemann. Collection includes MSS 92-21.

The series include client records, correspondence, day books, maps, blueprints, and scrapbooks. Contained in these series are family correspondence, financial records, legal documents, deeds, contracts, reports, photographs, newspaper clippings, postcards, and pamphlets. Flagler Enterprises Letters

Scope and Contents The two manuscript letters, dated 1893, are by George F. Miles, St. Augustine, Florida to Landford Fleming, Esq., C.M.G., Ottawa, Ontario, Canada and refer to matters pertaining to Flagler enterprises. Mr. Miles at that time was general manager and director of the Florida Coast Line Canal and Transportation Company with headquarters at St. Augustine, and Mr. Fleming was a stockholder in the "Boston and Florida Land Company." In his letter of March 21, 1893, Mr. Miles expressed concern about the health of Mr. Fleming, and suggested that the delightful climate in Florida could be beneficial to him. The Florida State University Southern Business History Center Records include, correspondence to and from the center, including memos, form letters, responses, questionnaire, annual reports, photographs and publications; and oral interviews recorded in May and June, 1954 and August 1956 on 1/4 inch audio tape reels. Fred E. Busbey Papers

Many of the photographs and battle maps in the collection reflect his military activities in World War I. Rare Broadsides and Leaves Collection

Scope and Contents Broadside box 1 contains miscellaneous oversized items ranging from 1611 to the mid-1980s. The contents consist of miscellaneous pages of earlier printed works, printed pamphlets and ephemera, reproductions of paintings with an emphasis on the history and landscapes of Florida, as well as a collection of poetry broadsides. The earlier contents consist of three leaves of the 1611 King James Bible, two late 17th century pamphlets, and one page of the London Gazette from 1789. The box also contains a series of watercolor paintings of historic Tallahassee, a representation of North Florida copied from a map, as well as several art prints related to Tallahassee and surrounding areas. Sun City Development and Motion Picture Studio Plat Map Sheets

Scope and Contents The collection consists of seven plat map sheets of Sun City, "Florida's Moving Picture City," filed with the Clerk of the Circuit Court of Hillsborough County on November 17, 1925. In addition to tracts of land, these sheets show all "parks, parkways, boulevards, avenues, drives, streets, alleys, and highways dedicated for public use." They also indicate the locations of the motion picture studio. They are signed by H.C. Van Sweringen, President, and J.H. Meyer, Secretary of the Sun City Holding Company.
