Albert Tipton Reel-to-Reel Collection

This collection contains ten boxes of reel-to-reel recordings, mostly of Albert Tipton, including recitals and rehearsals as well as a few commercial recordings. Some of the reels are in poor condition.

College of Music Reel-to-Reel Recordings

Scope and Contents

The library possesses approximately 1700 reel-to-reel recordings. There are a few commercial recordings, but the collection consists principally of performances by FSU faculty and ensembles, dating from the mid-1950s to the early 1980s, with the bulk of the collection covering the late 60s to late 70s.

Dale A. Olsen Collection

Scope and Contents The Dale A. Olsen Collection consists of over 800 audio and visual items that span Dr. Olsen’s career as a researcher and educator from 1965 to 2007. They contain a variety of music from Japan, China, Indonesia, Persia, Africa, Ireland, South America, the Caribbean, and North America. While most of the recordings chronicle Dr. Olsen’s extensive fieldwork in South America with Japanese immigrants and Warao Indians, other recordings include concerts by FSU world music ensembles, student and guest lectures, other special events and ceremonies, private gatherings at home, and even a handful of commercial recordings. Florida State University Libraries Proposed Amendments to Florida State University Constitution

Scope and Contents

This collection is comprised of documents pertaining to librarian faculty status dating from 1956-1958. The documents contained in the collection include letters between Florida State University (FSU)'s assistant librarian, Florence Bethea and the Constitution Committee's Chairman, Robert Miller, notes and suggestions for proposed amendments to the constitution, and copies of proposed constitutions. There are significant gaps in the collection. The earliest dated document is February 23, 1956 and the remainder covers the last few months in 1958.

Franciszek Zachara Collection

The Franciszek Zachara Collection contains uncataloged manuscripts by the composer, consisting of 29 complete works and roughly 13 incomplete works. William F. Cramer Collection

Scope and Contents The collection contains approximately 250 musical works, of which more than 100 are manuscript facsimiles. Many works in the collection remain unpublished. Composers from both the Americas and Europe (particularly East Europe and Russia) are represented. Most of the pieces were composed by contemporaries of Cramer, and many were composed as a direct result of Dr. Cramer's activity.
