The 17th-20th Century Correspondence and Documents consists of letters, documents, and various forms of correspondence relating to notable names and celebrities from between 1618 and 1981.

Scope and Contents This collection relates to the 97th Bombardment Group which was based in England, Africa and Italy during World War II and the first operational bomb group in England in 1942. The collection contains documents (mostly photocopies) on missions, statements and statistics, three diaries, and newspaper articles. A large part of this collection concerns former Florida Governor Spessard Holland as well as the Florida State College for Women (FSCW) and The Florida State University (FSU). Included in the papers are correspondence about Governor Holland, the FSU Alumni Association, and Alpha Delta Pi. Also includes photographs and memorabilia concerning Governor Holland, Beth Moor, and both FSCW and FSU.

The Beulah Pipkin papers include clippings, correspondence, and memorabilia. The clippings, dated from 1924 to 1985, concern Florida State University (FSU) history and include some from the Polk County Quarterly. Among the correspondence are letters from Ella Bisbee to Pipkin regarding a fifty year reunion class biography book and letter from FSU to Pipkin. The majority of the correspondence is from the 1970s. Included in the memorabilia is a citation from FSU and a letter from the director of the Alumni Association to Beulah Pipkin dated October 1969.

Abstract

This collection includes the proceedings of the annual Blue Ridge Institute, presentations that were not part of the proceedings but were presented at the Institute, programs, invitations, invitation lists, correspondence, background material, photographs and various related materials, including audio tapes and video tapes.

Content Description

This collection relates to Hazel Louis Bowman who worked for the Signal Corps and lived in India with the American Red Cross for two years. Bowman's collection contains six full boxes, one oversize box, a phono records box, and two photograph boxes. Four of the boxes include letters written to and from Hazel to her parents, family, neighbors, and friends. The collection also contains an oral history transcript, newsletters and bulletins, American Red Cross publications, her diary, a book written by Bowman, photograph albums, and ephemera.

Scope and Contents The Brumby Family Papers consist of newspaper clippings, biographies, and a diary related to the Brumby Family as well as information on the Brumby Rocker, a rocking chair produced by the Brumby Chair Company. The diary entitled, "Diary of Our Florida Trip From Marietta, GA" covers a camping trip of the Family by mule drawn wagon through Florida in the Winter of 1884-85. There are four newspaper clippings about James R. Brumby, Jr. dated 1917-1921 and a copy of an editorial about him dated 1929. A biography of "My Brother Jim," about James R.
