Dime Novels Collection

Scope and Contents This collection contains dime novels from the late nineteenth to early twentieth centuries. These were cheap, mass-market fiction works sold in five, ten, and twenty cent formats that covered themes of adventure, crime, technology, the American Revolution, pirates, frontier life, the Wild West, and relations with Native Americans. This collection contains issues from popular dime novel publishers, including Frank Tousey, the Winner Library Co., Street and Smith, the George Marsh Company, Beadle and Adams, Norman L. Pasquale DiPierro collection

This collection relates to Electrician's Mate 1st Class Pasquale DiPierro who immigrated from Italy in 1920 and served with Company A, 5th Platoon, 118th Naval Construction Battalion, "Seabees" in the Pacific Theater during World War II on New Guinea and the Philippines. He was recalled during the Korean War and served again with the U.S. Navy in a construction battalion. The collection includes letters, military personnel documents, 118th Naval Construction Battalion newsletters, and objects.

Scope and Contents This collection consists of 40 signed documents, 7 autographed letters signed, and 6 letters signed, relating to the civil and military administration of the British possessions of East and West Florida. This is an important collection of manuscript material, apparently all unpublished, related to East and West Florida, which was part of the British Empire just prior to the American Revolution. This collection includes photographs and letters from the military career of Clifford Kenneth Dodd, who served in the Army Corps of Engineering during WWII. Included are official National Park Service photographs of various generals, diplomats, historic events, and Washington, D.C.
