This collection relates to Guy M. Edwards. The collection contains untitled private photographs taken on the ground across Europe while Edwards served with the 10th Photographic Reconnaissance Group and the 67th Tactical Reconnaissance Group.
This item is a day-by-day account of work done and/or activities in the area of Centerville, Alabama. The author is unknown, and it is poorly written and in poor condition. It provides a description of menial or slavish labor performed, such as picking corn, picking cotton and slaughtering pigs and beef. It is interesting only in that it furnishes an insight into how people lived and worked during the early 1800s.
This collection consists of an oral history interview transcript of a retired African American lieutenant colonel, and one of the Tuskegee Airmen, as he discusses his experiences during WWII and the Korean War.
Eleanor Mary Parker was a Florida State College for Women student, Class of 1944 (BS, Education). After her graduation she continued on as an instructor in the physical education department. Elmer Hubbard served as Radioman Second Class in the US Navy's 1st Naval Beach Battalion in the Mediterranean and European Theaters, as well as the Pacific Theater aboard the U.S.S. Buckingham attack ship during World War II. Hubbard participated in the amphibious landings at Anzio, Salerno, and Southern France. The collection consists of original wartime transcribed, typed, and mimeographed letters from original handwritten letters Hubbard wrote to his parents.
This collection primarily consists of letters, the majority sent from servicemen to the Elmer Reeves family, and very few from the Reeves themselves during World War II. These letters include V-Mail, and various post and Christmas cards, in addition to the normal letters. The collection also includes photographs of many of the senders and a full list of men from the community who served during the war.

This collection pertains to First Lieutenant Elwood Harry Fredrickson who served as a bombardier in the 743rd Bomb Squadron, 455th Bomb Group. The collection contains flight records, textbooks and notes from flight school, assignments from flight school, various documents regarding Fredrickson’s postings, personnel lists, volumes one and two of the 455th Bomb Group Journal, booklets on aviation and cadet life, various receipts, certificates and photographs.
This collection relates to Chief Petty Officer Luther Samuel Ely Jr. who served as an Electrician's Mate aboard the USS Ordronaux during World War II. This collection contains a manuscript titled "World War II Experiences of Luther Samuel Ely, Jr." where Ely describes his experiences in Basic Training, at Fore River Shipyard, and in England, Ireland, and the Mediterranean from 1942 to 1944.
Betty Stoddard was an Englishwoman from London who worked in the Women's Land Army farming, and in an aircraft factory in London during World War II. She met her husband, an American army combat medic, in 1943 and married later that year. She then went through the process of receiving clearance to move to the United States. She traveled to the United States on the ship Mauretania with other British wives and hundreds of injured American soldiers, arriving in January 1945. She lived in Missouri with her in-laws until her husband returned and discharged in May 1945. They settled in Iowa.
This collection relates to Thornton M. Embrey who served with Company D, 3118th Signal Service Group, during World War II. This collection contains transcripts of radio messages related to the announcement of the surrender of Germany in May 1945 and Japan in August 1945. There are a few additional documents and photographs related to Embrey’s postwar service in the U.S. Army.

The Emily Jackson Swanson scrapbook was created by Emily Jackson Swanson, from Apopka, Florida. She was a student at the Florida State College for Women from 1929-1932. The scrapbook contains booklets, photographs, letters, and newspaper clippings.
The eighteen papers in this collection are in manuscript with notations, "Composition" or "Essay," and are dated Emory & Henry College, Emory, Virginia. Sixteen are signed B. E. Atkins, one is signed Sarah S. Thompson, and one is signed W. G. Bryan. The essays are on a wide variety of topics such as government, slavery and industrial progress at the time.
