William R. Lueders collection

Scope and Contents

The collection of William R. Lueders contains an oral history transcript of an interview provided by the Reichelt Program for Oral History. Lueders served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a cameraman in the 163rd Signal Photo Company in the North African, Mediterranean, and European (ETO) Theaters. The collection also includes two photographs of an unnamed concentration camp in France and a Veteran's questionnaire.

William Wilson letters

This collection relates to Willie Mae Williams, an African American woman, who served in the Women's Army Corps during World War II. The collection includes an oral history interview, photographs, newspaper clippings, a cassette tape of the oral history, a woman's veterans hat, a Women's Army Corps souvenir tray, a Women's Army Corps tag, and a yearbook for the 1881st Service Command unit. In her oral history interview, she discusses basic training for women and the WAC's unpreparedness for the women. She worked in the hospital and talks about life as a female on base and in traveling off base to visit civilians; talk about female pregnancy in the WAC.

Wilson D. Brooks papers

Scope and Contents Wilson Dean Brooks participated in significant events during and after World War II. He was a part of the liberation of Dachau, Battle of the Bulge, and worked as an investigator for the War Crimes Board. His collection contains photographs capturing the liberation of Dachau, a journal describing military life in Europe, which includes details about Battle of the Bulge, and a vast amount of documents that pertain to war crime trials he oversaw as a judge advocate. His case reports on war crimes make up the bulk of his collection and contain victim testimonies, arrest reports, instances of maltreatment and murder, and other notable information. World War I and II Papers

This collection consists of two groups of items. There are three army regulations post cards dated "Somewhere in France," which are acknowledgement of thanks from soldiers at the front, and they are addressed to Miss C. Tracey at Erie, Pennsylvania, 1918. The other part of this collection is a newspaper, The Stars and Stripes, dated Tuesday, May 8, 1945, with headlines "Nazis Quit." With the newspaper are two arm bands of the Nazi armed forces, one red and black and one black on yellow.

This collection consists of six letters from Richard Bruce Worley, a U.S. Navy fireman who entered the service in 1944 and spent most of his time in northern and central California. This collection pertains to Corporal Wrightson Ely Clinton Sr., who served in the 116th Field Artillery Battalion of the United States Army National Guard's 31st Infantry Division. He served in the Netherland East Indies and the Philippines from 1944 to 1945 as a clerk of the Battery.

This collection consists of one half-box, primarily containing photographs and artifacts he was issued, collected, or awarded during his service. It also includes correspondence with his family, separation papers, scanned copies of the original scrapbook his photographs were stored in, and rosters of servicemen from his battalion.
