Scope and Contents

The Florida State University (FSU) President's Executive Committee Minutes consist of agendas, memoranda, minutes, reports, and other attachments documenting the work of this organization during the early 1970s. Some of the topics frequently discussed were academic problems of minority students, student health services, visits by Florida legislators, student residence hall issues, drug abuse and drug education, and parking and traffic regulations. James Stanley Marshall was FSU President at this time. These records document FSU campus governance and activities in the early 1970s. Materials are arranged chronologically.

Scope and Contents There is a gap in the collection from the 1912/1914 report to the 1922/1924 report. A copy of the President's Report for the years included in the gap and prior to the 1912/1914 report can be found in the Report of the Board of Control of the State Educational Institutions of Florida, Strozier, Documents Florida--L136 .B155. The President's Report includes a report from the President to the State of Florida, Board of Control along with reports from the Dean of Faculties, Dean of Students, deans of academic departments, Librarian, Personnel Office, Business Manager, Registrar and other administrative officers and departmental heads. Scope and Contents

This collection contains President Albert Alexander Murphree's official presidential correspondence as well as his personal correspondence. It includes letters concerning his work as editor and publisher of the Florida School Exponent, the only teacher's journal in Florida, which began publication in 1894.

Abstract

This collection consists of speeches and addresses written by Dr. Strozier while employed as the Dean of Students at the University of Chicago and as the President of Florida State University. Also this collection contains memorabilia from Dr. Strozier's Inauguration ceremony at Florida State University.
