Scope and Contents

Chester W. Bailes served as a 4th Grade technician in the US Army 1st Armored Division during World War II. He was first sent to Ireland, before participating in the North Africa invasion, Sicily, and Anzio during the invasion of Italy, where he spent the rest of the war. His collection includes a few letters, publications relating to his unit written after the war, Time, Stars and Stripes, and Yank Magazines, as well as a number of pamphlets and military-published books relating to World War II.

Scope and Contents The Edward Biedricki II collection contains assembled documents and ephemera from members of the 4th Armored Division, specifically the 10th Armored Infantry Battalion. This includes two books regarding the actions of the 4th Armored Division and the 3rd Army in Europe, official documents from the 10th Armored Infantry Battalion headquarters describing the actions of the unit across the European theater, pages from the McClellan Cycle newspaper that was distributed around Fort McClelland, and personal letters to members of the division after the war.
