Arthur Eason papers

Scope and Contents This collection includes several different types of documents that refer to the attack on the American 106th Division in St. Vith, Germany on December 16, 1944. The attack on the 422nd, 423rd, and 424th Infantry Regiments of the 106th Division resulted in 8,663 casualties, 416 deaths, 1,246 injuries, and 7,001 soldiers M.I.A. (missing in action).  Pvt. Arthur Eason was captured and transferred to P.O.W. (prisoner of war) camps. Eason was transferred to the Stalag IV B camp in Northeastern Germany. Scope and Contents Anne Burke was a nurse in the US Army Nurse Corps at the USA Fourth General Hospital in Melbourne, Australia, during World War II. The collection primarily relates to her relationship with First Lieutenant Andrew W. O'Rourke, Jr. of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve. The collection includes thirty-nine letters written by Andrew to Anne during the war. The letters stop due to Andrew's death as a result of typhus fever.  Also included are four photographs, sixteen letters to Anne of condolences from those who served with Andrew, newspaper clippings, a fellow nurse's memoirs, V-mail, and a greeting card. The Frank Facente transcript describes medic Frank Facente's service in the 4th Medical Battalion, 4th Infantry Division, as a part of the United States Army during World War II. Melvin Magidson transcript

This oral history interview transcript pertains to Melvin Magidson, who was inducted into the U.S. Army Air Force in February of 1943 and was discharged in October of 1945 with the rank of lieutenant. In the transcript, Magidson mostly recounts various Air Force bases that he trained at throughout Florida, Georgia, Alabama, and the northeast. Magidson never served overseas due to the war in Europe and in the Pacific both ending shortly after the end of his training.

Milton J. Rosen Photographs

This collection includes photographs taken in the Philippines during the later years of WWII. The photographs were taken by Milton J. Rosen and the 2766 Photomapping Battalion, 25th Engineers. These photos were taken over the course of a year from 1945-1946. They include buildings, streets, daily life (of both the soldiers and citizens), Army vehicles, and other landmarks of the Philippines. The collection also includes a photograph of General Eisenhower and General Styer. The photographs are centralized around Manila and Banguio. Several landmarks make reoccuring appearances, such as the Chinese Cemetery, the Jewish Cemetery, the Roosevelt Club, and the Pasig River.

Edward J. Sidote collection

This collection contains letters, documents, ephemera, and memorabilia from Edward J. Sidote who served as a Master Sergeant in the United States Army Medical Corps during World War II as an X-ray techician and medical suppy clerk. In May of 1945,  he was assigned to the 9th Medical Depot,  attached to the 6th U.S. Army in Manila, Phillipine Islands, and then Occupied Japan.  In 1946,  Sidote was  honorably discharged with the rank of Master Sergeant in the Army.

Sonia Visser served in the Women's Army Corps from 1943 to 1945. She experienced public discrimination as a WAC in rural American towns. She served overseas in the Pacific in base port command at Hollandia, New Guinea. Wrightson Ely Clinton, Sr. collection

This collection pertains to Corporal Wrightson Ely Clinton Sr., who served in the 116th Field Artillery Battalion of the United States Army National Guard's 31st Infantry Division. He served in the Netherland East Indies and the Philippines from 1944 to 1945 as a clerk of the Battery.

This collection consists of one half-box, primarily containing photographs and artifacts he was issued, collected, or awarded during his service. It also includes correspondence with his family, separation papers, scanned copies of the original scrapbook his photographs were stored in, and rosters of servicemen from his battalion.
