Lingayen Gulf (Philippines)

The Mildred and William H. Finger papers detail Private William H. Finger's experiences as a member of Company E, 160th Infantry Regiment of the 40th Infantry Division in the United States Army during World War II. Finger provides insight into his time during basic training at Fort McClellan in Alabama and his time spent overseas in the Philippines. His wife Mildred wrote back and forth to him about his family and the significance of letter writing while he is away from home. The collection contains letters and documents.

This collection relates to Joseph G. Moretti who joined the U.S. Navy in Jacksonville, Florida in September 1942. He served in the Navy's Construction Battalion (Seabees) and the 8th Underwater Demolition Team (UDT8) until his discharge on August 14, 1945. He was stationed in Fort Peirce, Florida until he transferred to the Aleutian Islands and, later, the South Pacific. His collection includes an oral history recorded in 2000, Moretti's naval logbook, miscellaneous government documents from 1941 to 1957, news clippings from the 1990s, and photographs.

This forty page oral history interview transcript relates to Robert Mckay who was a student and interned by the Japanese at Baguio in the Philippine Islands during World War II.  The interview was conducted with McKay at a Baguio Internee reunion. The transcript covers McKay's experiences before, during, and after internment.
