Scope and Contents This collection contains letters from literary people received when Professor Davis was chairing the English Department Lecture Committee in 1977-1978. Included is the full correspondence with Reed Whittemore. Other correspondents include: Saul Bellow, Frederick Crews, E. L. Doctorow, Tom Stoppard, and Paul Antony Tanner. There are also memos of Bertram Davis and lecture space reservation materials.

James Branch Cabell Collection

Scope and Contents This collection is comprised of materials by and about the Virginia author, James Branch Cabell. The first item in the collection is a set of original typed (with one set of copies) letters by Cabell to Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings (1940-1953). The copies were typed from original letters in the University of Florida Special Collections. The second item in the collection is a typed copy of a cumulative index to the Storisende Edition of Cabell's works (McBride, NY, 1930, 18v). The index was prepared by John M. Campbell, Jr. of Paris, France, and includes a notation: "No other index exists, either in individual volumes or for the works as a whole, and the information contained...
