Bibliographic Associates Correspondence

Scope and Contents Correspondence to and from Norman L. Kilpatrick, Director of Florida State University Libraries, concerning the founding and early meetings of the Bibliographical Associates, an informal campus group that met to share interests in collecting rare books, old maps, original manuscripts, and other printed materials.

Cromartie Land Records

Scope and Contents Documentation of the land holdings of Alexander Cromartie (1807-1870) of Leon County, Florida.  Includes an 1868 manuscript land indenture transferring two parcels of land to Cromartie's son, Alexander G. Cromartie; and an 1870 map by surveyor W. L. Robeson, detailing the division of Cromartie's 978 acres near Lake Iamonia after his death.

Dr. Earl R. Beck Papers

Scope and Contents Contains both holograph and typescripts of Beck's work, Under the Bombs: The German Home Front, 1942-1945. The papers also include a couple of maps, a 1987 essay exam, articles and newsclippings, research notes on various subjects, and many publications by others. This last area is especially strong in works by German authors including a handful by Schonemann. Collection includes MSS 92-21.

The series include client records, correspondence, day books, maps, blueprints, and scrapbooks. Contained in these series are family correspondence, financial records, legal documents, deeds, contracts, reports, photographs, newspaper clippings, postcards, and pamphlets. Scope and Contents The Fallschase Development Reference Files includes newspaper articles which documented the Fallschase development process; agreements and other legal materials; minutes from public meetings held in 2005 and 2006; Fallschase development proposals, maps/surveys of the land of the proposed Fallschase community; memorandums to and from the Board of County Commissions; correspondence to and from Robert Rackleff and other Leon County commissioners.

Flagler Enterprises Letters

Scope and Contents The two manuscript letters, dated 1893, are by George F. Miles, St. Augustine, Florida to Landford Fleming, Esq., C.M.G., Ottawa, Ontario, Canada and refer to matters pertaining to Flagler enterprises. Mr. Miles at that time was general manager and director of the Florida Coast Line Canal and Transportation Company with headquarters at St. Augustine, and Mr. Fleming was a stockholder in the "Boston and Florida Land Company." In his letter of March 21, 1893, Mr. Miles expressed concern about the health of Mr. Fleming, and suggested that the delightful climate in Florida could be beneficial to him. Florida State University Southern Business History Center Records

Scope and Contents The Florida State University Southern Business History Center Records include, correspondence to and from the center, including memos, form letters, responses, questionnaire, annual reports, photographs and publications; and oral interviews recorded in May and June, 1954 and August 1956 on 1/4 inch audio tape reels. They also include a group of historical records of the Eberhard Faber Pencil Company at Cedar Key, Florida.

Fred E. Busbey Papers

Scope and Contents Papers include official and personal correspondence, speeches and remarks, news clippings, memorabilia, photographs, audiograph discs, maps and background material. Many of the photographs and battle maps in the collection reflect his military activities in World War I. Topics include McCarthyism, the House of Un-American Activities Committee, Alger Hiss, and the Dresden bombing in World War II.

Significant topics include genealogy, ecology, northwest Florida, publishing rights, classical music, WFSU-FM radio programs, the Muscogee Creek Nation, and Jahoda’s book The Road to Samarkand, a biography of English composer Frederick Delius.

The collection contains a variety of items, papers, and correspondence from Koerner's career as an Army Engineer in WWII. Scope and Contents The collection was given by Reubin O'Donovan Askew in 2008. It contains materials related to his time serving in the Florida House of Representatives, Florida State Senate, and as Governor of Florida.  Included in the collection are campaign files, correspondence, newspaper articles, photographs, audiovisual materials, memorabilia, and copies of speeches. Additionally, there are records documenting his 1988 Presidential bid, as well as other materials relating to his life after his service as a Florida public official. Sun City Development and Motion Picture Studio Plat Map Sheets

Scope and Contents The collection consists of seven plat map sheets of Sun City, "Florida's Moving Picture City," filed with the Clerk of the Circuit Court of Hillsborough County on November 17, 1925. In addition to tracts of land, these sheets show all "parks, parkways, boulevards, avenues, drives, streets, alleys, and highways dedicated for public use." They also indicate the locations of the motion picture studio. They are signed by H.C. Van Sweringen, President, and J.H. Meyer, Secretary of the Sun City Holding Company. The plat sheets document how the development appeared shortly after Sun City was dedicated.
