James W. George papers
This collection relates to James W. George who served as a Chief Master Sergeant in the 9th U.S Army Air Force. Wilmot R. George was James George's brother and also served in the European Theater. He served as a Tech Sergeant and received a Silver Star. This collection contains a one-page handwritten summary of James George's military service and ten-page memoir of his brother Wilmont's service during the Second World War.
Sarah Smith transcript
This oral history interview transcript relates to Sarah Smith who joined the Women's Army Corps after the bombing of Pearl Harbor and was discharged in 1945 with the rank of Tech Sergeant. She served both in North Africa and Italy. Smith details her experiences during her training in Florida as well as during her service in North Africa and Italy. Smith explains the reception to her enlistment from her family and community as well as the valuable opportunities that her service gave her in seeing more of the world.
