This collection includes letters, personal papers, manuscripts, books, maps, and artifacts from E. Thomas and Margaret Fitzell Tifft Gilliard. The letters are from before, during, and after World War II between friends and family of Thomas and Margaret. The bulk of the letters include correspondence with Therese "Teddy" "Butchi" Waelchli, Thomas's aunt. The personal papers are official military documents, non-military documents, and notes. There are family photographs, photographs taken while Thomas served with the 63rd Infantry Regiment, 6th Infantry Division,  in the Pacific Campaign, and photographs from the many scientific expeditions they took.

This collection relates to James E. McDaniel who served as a colonel in the United States Army Air Corps in the European Theater of Operations during World War II. He served in the 48th Bomb Group at Will Rogers Field and 15th Bomb Squadron Light 1st All American Unit. This collection contains flight notes, french paper money, a war department identification card, immunization papers, pay record, 32 black and white postcards from Italy, a photography book of Cambridge England, and a Paris transit park ticket.

Scope and Contents This collection contains personal papers including letters, notes, sketches, newspaper articles, and a radio interview of Mildred Shearer about her work with the United Service Organization (USO) sketching servicemen. Almost 600 photostatic copies and a few original portraits are included as well. The letters are mainly thank you notes in which servicemen and family members of servicemen commend her for her sketches. However, there are a few personal letters from friends and in one case, an entire collection of correspondence with one man in the Marines named Lieutenant Ralph Hunter Bennett. This collection relates to Technical Sergeant Frank Watkins, who served with the 449th Bombardment Group, 15th Air Force, in Italy during World War II. The B-24 bomber on which Watkins was a crew was shot down over Regensburg, Germany. Watkins was captured and spent than 15 months as a prisoner of war. This collection includes mostly personal letters written to an aunt (1944-1946), from his time as a POW through his repatriation.

This collection pertains to Corporal Wrightson Ely Clinton Sr., who served in the 116th Field Artillery Battalion of the United States Army National Guard's 31st Infantry Division. He served in the Netherland East Indies and the Philippines from 1944 to 1945 as a clerk of the Battery.

This collection consists of one half-box, primarily containing photographs and artifacts he was issued, collected, or awarded during his service. It also includes correspondence with his family, separation papers, scanned copies of the original scrapbook his photographs were stored in, and rosters of servicemen from his battalion.
