Kwajalein (CVE-98) collection contains comprehensive records pertaining to officially recorded, declassified daily life aboard the Casablanca Class Escort Carrier U.S.S. Kwajalein, an aircraft carrier, as well as various visual and auditory artifact materials relating to the work and lives of its crewmen. The collection specifically regards the life of U.S. Navy sailor Monte Allen, information he was able to preserve, and the first-hand observations he deemed important. Scope and Contents This collection includes a United States Pacific Fleet and Pacific Ocean Areas Intelligence Information Bulletin on Okinawa, dated 15 November 1944. It also includes a U.S. Naval Training School (Hollywood Beach Hotel, Hollywood, Florida) graduation class 4-44 yearbook entitled "The Quarterdeck," dated 21 July 1944.  Other content includes Thanksgiving and Christmas 1945 dinner menus for U.S. troops in Samar, Philippines. This collection contains a transcript provided by the Reichelt Program for Oral History. Benjamin Epstein was a Jewish American serviceman who served in the U.S. Army Air Corps from 1942-1946, and he trained at Fort Logan, Colorado. He was transported on the U.S.S. Dorchester, which was torpedoed by a German U-Boat in February 1943. He described escaping from the sinking ship and swimming to one of two lifeboats. He was picked up by the U.S.S. Escambia and taken to Greenland. He remained in Greenland until January 1945 where he was transferred to Fort Totten, New York and remained there until discharged in 1946.

Betty S. and husband John Gilson were both medical doctors in residence in Cleveland, Ohio until John was called on active duty in the Navy. The letters in this collection were exchanged from 1944-1945 and discuss his experience in the Navy as well has her struggles on the homefront with balancing child care and professional duties while her husband served away in the U.S. Navy.

This collection relates to Henry Fremont Blake who served in the United States Navy in the Pacific Theater as a Store Keeper 2nd Class during World War II aboard the U.S.S. Tyrrell (AKA-80).  The collection includes personal items and artifacts.

This collection contains two oral histories; one with Dr. Philip Gilman, Jr. and one with James Izumizaki. It also includes the reprint of a letter by Pvt. Lavern Borg, Jr. written on April 2, 1945. The letter tells about his experiences with the 5th Marine Division of the U.S. Marine Corp in the battle of Iwo Jima. The next document includes a service record and medallist dated June 1967, January 1969, and August 1973. A pamphlet collected by the Pajaro Valley Arts Council, California entitled Nihen Bunka Japanese Culture: One hundred years in Pajaro Valley is also in the collection.

This collection contains the personal papers and memorabillia of Clifford Robert Cain (United States Navy's, Aviation Radioman First Class, Chief Petty Officer Electronicsman) including his aviator's log book, discharge papers, certificate of training completion, financial records, identification card, leatherbound service record case, and various documents from the Veteran's Administration.  Cain served at Lakehurst Naval Air Station.  He supported the Blimp-Zeppelin program.

This collection relates to Edgar Dean Clemmons who served in the United States Navy during World War II in the Pacific Campaign on Guam as a Second Class Machinist's Mate working with oxygen generation and compressed gas equipment. The collection includes military documents.

Douglas Leach served as a U.S. Navy officer during World War II on the U.S.S Elden in the Pacific Theater. His letters of correspondence to family and friends are about his daily life, on the ship and off. His family's letters hold information on how rationing and censorship affected the American family unit during WWII. There are photographs included of Leach's niece and sister.

This collection primarily consists of letters, the majority sent from servicemen to the Elmer Reeves family, and very few from the Reeves themselves during World War II. These letters include V-Mail, and various post and Christmas cards, in addition to the normal letters. The collection also includes photographs of many of the senders and a full list of men from the community who served during the war.

This collection relates to Lt. Commander and later Commander George Mills Harper who served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as commander of the U.S. Naval Detachment in Naples, Italy. He also continued to serve in the U.S. Naval Reserves until his retirement at the rank of Commander in 1974. He served as a distinguished professor of English at Florida State University. The collection contains U.S. Navy official documents, uniforms, badges, and pins.

This family collection relates to three relatives who served during World War II: Rollin Lewis Gibbs, Jr. who served with the U.S. Navy as a Storekeeper 2nd Class; Helen Jean Brickley who served with the United States Naval Reserve (Women's Reserve) as a Lieutenant Commander; and Frank Brickley who served with the United States Marine Corps as a Technical Sergeant. Scope and Contents The collection of Seaman First Class Giles Odell Lofton, III contains an oral history transcript of an interview provided by the Reichelt Program for Oral History. Lofton served in the Navy aboard the USS Wisconsin in the Third Fleet, under Admiral Halsey in the Pacific Theater (PTO) during World War II. The collection also contains documents, U.S.S. Wisconsin papers, photographs of the USS Wisconsin and the Third Fleet during the invasion of Iwo Jima and the surrender of Japan. The photographs show the ships in combat, bombing the shoreline defenses of Iwo Jima, as well as Kamikaze attacks against the fleet. This collection relates to Robert S. McClelland who served as U.S. Navy liaison with the 7th U.S. Army during World War II. The materials in the Robert S. McClelland collection consist of eleven original photographs covering the liberation of a German concentration camp, a crematorium, photographs of the German town of Gmünd, and a photocopy of Robert S. McClelland's U.S. Naval record. The items in the collection include badges, buttons, an armband, a silver spoon, and haberdashery all relating to different Nazi party groups such as the Deutscher Volkssturm Wehrmacht, the National Socialist People’s Welfare, the Women's Reicharbeitdienst and the Nazi party in general.

The collection of Wayne Mixson contains an oral history transcript of an interview provided by the Reichelt Program for Oral History. Mixson, who would later serve as the 39th Governor of Florida, served in the United States Navy from 1942-1946 and participated in the Lighter-Than-Air Project; he worked with a crew in EP Squadron 14, a blimp squadron.

This collection consists of correspondence and official records related to the service of Theodore Oxman in the Army Air Force in World War II. As part of the collection there is a sixty-fifth anniversary booklet of the Cornell University’s Class of 1948 where alumni recount their World War II experiences in the different branches of the armed services. The collection also contains two photographs of Oxman and a book documenting the personnel and mission of the Grenada Army Air Field in Grenada, Mississippi.

This collection relates to Seaman Second Class Clifford Prince who was stationed at Great Lakes Naval Training Center and San Diego with the U.S. Navy during World War II. This collection includes letters sent to and from Prince’s family, greeting cards, photographs, and documents.

Richard Webb was a storekeeper first class in the US Navy in the European Theater. He was a mail clerk and storekeeper and received three Bronze Stars This collection includes a 10-page typed memoir about a trip to England aboard the LST-293, an account of D-Day, and an account of actions taken at Mount St. Michel. Also included are his reflections on death and dying and the role of "ducks" in WWII as well as 28 photographs of the LST, its crew, the dead and wounded GIs on D-Day, German POWs, and other naval craft.
